Aad Veenman appointed chairman of Achmea Supervisory Board

Aad Veenman (photo) has been appointed chairman of the Supervisory Board of Achmea with effect from 9 August 2016. The appointment is subject to clearance by the regulator. Due to health reasons, Erik van de Merwe at the same time – after the Achmea Supervisory Board has adopted the 2016 Half Year Results – will retire as Supervisory Board chairman.

At this time, Erik van de Merwe will have been a member of the Supervisory Board for more than 12 years, serving as chairman for the last four of those years. Over the same period, he also held several executive and supervisory positions within Achmea.

Achmea CEO Willem van Duin commented: “As a supervisory director, Erik van de Merwe has devoted a great deal of time, energy and diligence to Achmea and to the functioning of the group. For this, we owe him an enormous debt of gratitude.”

Aad Veenman joined the Achmea Supervisory Board in 2009 and chairs the Audit & Risk Committee.
