Achmea allocates €130 million to limit increase in healthcare premiums

Achmea limits the increase in basic healthcare premiums for next year by allocating around €130 million from reserves, charged against the 2017 result. In doing so Achmea contributes in keeping health insurance premiums affordable for customers of among others Zilveren Kruis, Interpolis, Avéro, Pro Life, OZF, FBTO and De Friesland Zorgverzekeraar.

Achmea aims to keep the right balance between offering competitive health insurance premiums for customers on the one hand and maintaining a sound financial position on the other hand. The allocation of €130 million is lower than previous year’s contribution, when €430 million was allocated. This lower contribution is in line with our conviction that structurally offering premiums below cost price is not a sustainable situation.
