Achmea sells AIIL to CBL

Achmea sold AIIL (Achmea Insurance Ireland Limited) to CBL Corporation Ltd, the parent company of CBL Insurance, an international insurance group based in New Zealand. The transaction was finalised today. The deal has been approved by the Central Bank of Ireland.

AIIL is a 100% daughter of Achmea Reinsurance Company. In line with Achmea's international strategy the Dutch insurer decided early 2011 to end AIIL’s activities and put the company in controlled run off. By the end of 2012 the private insurer CBL showed interest in AIIL leading to the present agreement. With the acquisition of AIIL CBL strengthens its position on the European insurance market.
