Ellen Faber leaving Achmea to start own business

Ellen Faber (55), managing director of Achmea’s Non-Life & Income Protection Division, is leaving Achmea on 1 June after 12 years with the cooperative insurance company. She is bidding farewell to Achmea in order to fulfil a long-held wish: to set up her own business, focused on connection and leadership, which she hopes to accomplish before the end of the year. Her successor will be announced in due course.

Before her appointment as managing director, Ellen Faber was responsible for Achmea Group Facility Services for eight years, during which time she transformed Achmea’s facility services into a modern, efficient and customer-focused organisation. The new Achmea Campus in Zeist was also created under her leadership. Ellen Faber was one the first female managing directors of Achmea, was put in charge of Centraal Beheer Achmea in 2008 and was also responsible for the launch of the updated FBTO brand.

Willem van Duin, chairman of Achmea’s Executive Board: “While I’m sorry Ellen is leaving our organisation, I’m pleased she is following her heart and remaining true to her belief in independent entrepreneurship – and she’s a real entrepreneur, as witness her winning the title of Top Female Manager of the Year 2011. With Ellen on our team, we have achieved greater diversity at senior level within our organisation. We have many women in senior positions at Achmea and Ellen has been instrumental in mentoring and coaching them. We thank Ellen most sincerely for her commitment and we wish her every success with her own business in the future.”
