Permit required for the planned merger De Friesland and Achmea

A permit is required for the planned merger between De Friesland Zorgverzekeraar and Achmea. This has been determined by the Dutch Competition Authority (NMa).

As a consequence of the permit procedure, the planned merger date of 1 January 2011 has been delayed by a few months. The NMa needs extra time for more extensive research. Achmea and De Friesland Zorgverzekeraar look forward to an affirmative decision of the NMa and have full confidence in a positive outcome. De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) issued a statement of no objection concerning the proposed merger.

The permit application will be submitted directly in 2011. A final decision is to be expected thirteen weeks later. The extended process has no influence on the intentions of both parties to merge.
